We’ve been busy in Welton this week, installing one of our favourite solar and battery systems!
Our client has opted for a Sig Energy system with an 8kW inverter, 18kWh of battery storage, and a full UPS back-up Gateway. On top of that, there are 27 panels being fitted across three roofs, making this a pretty large domestic setup.
Why choose a Gateway? 🧐
There’s a common misconception that having solar panels and battery storage means you’ll still have power during a power cut. Unfortunately, that’s not quite the case.
When there’s an outage, inverters are required to shut down for safety reasons, which means your solar and batteries alone won’t keep your home running.
The only way to use your stored energy during a power cut is by installing a Gateway. This is one of the reasons we rate the Sig Energy system so highly – it offers this functionality as standard, along with excellent performance and reliability.
Our client this week has chosen to include a Gateway, which means the power supply will switch seamlessly from the grid to the batteries in the event of an outage. That means no interruption to fridges, freezers or WiFi 👌 In fact, most of our customers only realise there’s been a power cut when their phone notifies them that they’re in off-grid mode. It’s a brilliant feature!
