Electrical Installation Condition Reports, or EICRs as they’re usually known, are carried out widely to assess the safety and condition of a property’s electrical systems.
They’re carried out by qualified electricians and involve checking all the electrics in a property to check the safety of the installations, as well as identifying any issues that could cause problems if left untreated. They’re really good at identifying current and future problems and allowing the property owner to rectify them before they turn into bigger, potentially more expensive, issues.
Landlords, house purchasers and businesses tend to be our biggest clients for EICRs, however we also recommend homeowners consider these too, usually every 10 years if your property is in a generally good condition. If your electrical systems are old or outdated, we may recommend doing this more often to prevent any major issues occurring. They’re a relatively inexpensive way of keeping on top of your electrics in a non invasive way.
This video of a prime example of why EICRs are so vital in detecting issues. All can look good on the outside, but when you delve deeper, you can find serious defects that can have a major effect if left as is.
